On Tuesday, 24 March, all Manaikalani schools (including both Sommerville School and Stonefields School) went to Pt. England beach to meet some incoming waka from Hokulea (www.hokulea.com). Maxinne, Ruby, and Harley participated in a haka powhiri to welcome visitors from Hawaii, who sailed their waka to Aotearoa New Zealand by using the stars of the Manaiakalani constellation as their only guide.
We met visitors from Hawaii and high-fived them. -Ruby
