For our topic on Technology, we are learning about making Christmas sweets. And so, we went to the Old Lolly Shop in Takapuna to see how lollies are made. We even had a chance to make our own lollipop!

Daffodil Day

Hub 4 celebrated Daffodil Day by having a mufti day! Don't we all look bright?! :-D

We showcased our Alphabet Yoga at Te Oro.  Everyone was very impressed and we all felt very proud.

School Fair

For the Stonefields School Fair, we made lots of sweets and (paperweight) rocks to sell. We even made our own stall banner and sold our products at the fair by ourselves!  

Here's what some of our learners had to say about what they did for our school fair:

We made sweets for the school fair.  We made 3 sweets: they were hokey pokey, fudge and rocky road. The school fair was on Saturday 17 October. I enjoyed putting the sweets into the bags. I helped put in the hokey pokey and the fudge and Daniel helped with the rocky road. - by Joseph

I made fudge. I  put them in the bag to sell them at the school fair. I felt happy because we sold all of it at the school fair. - by Harley

Rosehill Cross Country

We all ran our hearts out at the Rosehill Cross Country and we were all very proud of our achievements.
Our highlights were Kade coming 1st and hanging out with our buddies!

Stonefields Art Exhibition

Have a look at our learning journey in Art for this term. With Gabrielle's help, we were able to create beautiful artworks which we proudly displayed at the Stonefields Art Exhibition.

Community Workers

Check out us learning about all the people in our community who help us.  We had so much fun!

We visited the fire station and got to have a turn squirting water with the fire hose. The fire officer showed us what they wear when they are fighting fires.

Constable Gordon came to visit and we all got to go for a drive in the police car with the lights and sirens on!

Then we had a visit from St Johns and we got to play with 'Ambo' the Ambulance and practise our first aid.

Gingerbread Man

For Big Book, we read the story of The Gingerbread Man.

Because we are want to make connections with our learning, we decided to make our own gingerbread man cookies for our Friday cooking activity.

We're sure glad none of our gingerbread men ran off when we took them out of the oven!

Constable Gordon

We are learning about people who help us in the community.  

Constable Gordon came in and told us all about his job.  

He had police uniforms for us to try on and we got to ride in the police car with the LIGHTS and SIRENS!!!

Strawberry and Banana Ice Blocks

For Cooking this term, we made strawberry and banana ice blocks. Here is our recipe:

And here we are enjoying our ice blocks on a warm Friday afternoon. Yum!

We have lots of new learners and adults in Hub 4 so we are having lots of fun learning about our new friends.  
We are working hard to remember everyone's name. 
We are practising greeting each other.

Jump

Last Friday we went on a trip with some of the Junior Satellite Classes to 'Jump'. We absolutely LOVED it and bounced non stop for an hour!

We then went back to Riverhills for lunch and had ice-cream as a special treat.
